Family Fun Fridays

We have started a family/school tradition of "Family Fun Fridays." One day Christopher said, "School is getting boring!" Help!! He just started this fall, so I figured we better start doing something to make it more fun! He likes it most of the time and we only do school for a couple hours a day, but he'd much rather be making crafts or doing something "more fun." So, we've played some games, made crafts, gone to the park, etc. and if he makes a record on his reading lists, Trint takes him to get ice-cream somewhere. Blake also goes along for doing something special--usually learning Bible verses.

The following idea is from our Sunday School teacher, Mark, who told us that you "can't have QUALITY time without QUANTITY time" with your kids. Some people think it doesn't matter the quantity as long as you have quality time with your kids, but most of the time you CAN'T have quality time without quantity. Your child will not open up to you usually right away. It takes some time just sitting around, being crazy, silly, or having fun before you can get serious and really have QUALITY time with them.

Here are some pictures of our recent "Family Fun Fridays". (They are not in chronological order.)
This evening we went to Smith's for a cook-out around a fire and some went on a small hay-rack ride behind Nathan's truck. The wind was strong and VERY COLD there. We were not dressed warm enough! This week has been a beautiful week until this evening when it decided to get cold!

I helped the boys create this barn.
This is our "Thankful Tree" for the month of November. I have each of the boys say something they are thankful for each school day and we write them on fall leaves and tape them to this cardboard tree.

A cardboard CASTLE I made for the kids: Christopher as a soldier. He made the flags on top of the Castle.
A little fire we had on a cool evening while we drank hot chocolate and ate cookies. Trint also read to the boys and we had our family devotions around the fire.
