We enjoyed going to Conner Prairie for the kids' 4th quarter school field trip. They had a reenactment of the Civil War and so lots of the stuff we saw was from that time period. It was neat and the kids enjoyed it. Balloon rides were $15 per person and only lasted a few minutes and so we didn't ride it. Caught this woman at the wrong moment while she was talking! Men with a canon. Photographic Wagon. Blake watching the soldiers take commands. Kitchen. Hospital. If you look close, you can see some gross things! Telegraph machine that the boys got to tap on. Telegraph tent. Christopher got to hit a baseball and is so proud of himself because he hit his first pitch!
Here is Christopher hitting the baseball. You can see the pride in Christopher's face after he hit the ball! (Trint didn't realize he had the camera on video at first and so that's why you see the sky for a bit.)
Christopher tried throwing the axes onto the log, but missed.
Indian home outside (above) and inside (below). On the bed in the Indian home. Blake's wooden coin he got for doing the telegraph earlier. Weaving machine. Making thread with wool. Twin goats on their mommy. Our kids with "Abraham Lincoln!" For some reason, Lilly didn't want to look at the camera. The next few pictures are the "Civil War." The Union men going up to the Confederates under the trees. Confederates. Confederate canons. Union canons. Union men. Confederates. Sword fight! Canons.
Men rising from the "dead"--the war was over! :-) The Union men after the show.
Confederates on horseback after the show. Confederates ready to "charge" the crowd!
Charge!
These men on horses also charged at the crowd and I thought I was videoing, but wasn't. Oh, well. These Confederate men stayed here awhile so people could ask them questions. They are a group that go around doing reenactments in several states between April and October.
I'm sure the people during the Civil War would have liked to pull around a canon this easy!
This doesn't look very comfortable to me!
Blake would sit down and ask me to take his picture by the old buildings!
